What if a wolf raised two babies who grew up to build one of the greatest cities in history?
Rome's Birthday Party: The City That Changed the World!
How two brothers and a wolf started one of history's greatest adventures
Rome celebrated its birthday every April with an epic party that lasted for days!
Imagine throwing a birthday party for an entire city! That's exactly what the ancient Romans did every year on April 21st (and celebrated for days after)!
According to legend, Rome was founded by a brave young man named Romulus way back in 753 BCE. But here's where the story gets wild — Romulus and his twin brother Remus were raised by a WOLF! Yep, you read that right. A mother wolf found the baby brothers and took care of them like they were her own cubs.
When the twins grew up, they decided to build a great city. But brothers sometimes argue, right? They couldn't agree on where to build it! Romulus wanted one hill, Remus wanted another. In the end, Romulus won and named the city after himself — Roma (that's Rome in Latin)!
Every April, Romans threw an amazing festival called the Parilia to celebrate their city's birthday. There were races, music, dancing, and LOTS of yummy food. People would jump over bonfires for good luck and decorate their homes with flowers.
💡 The Romans believed their city was exactly 753 years old when Jesus was born — they counted every single birthday!
