What if YOU could tell a king he wasn't the boss anymore?
Oliver Cromwell: The Man Who Said 'No' to Kings!
How an ordinary farmer became the leader of all England
A regular English farmer became the most powerful person in England — without being king!
Imagine telling a king that he can't be in charge anymore. Sounds crazy, right? Well, that's exactly what Oliver Cromwell did!
On April 25, 1599, a baby boy was born in Huntingdon, England, who would grow up to change his country forever. Oliver Cromwell started out as a regular farmer and family man. But he was super passionate about fairness and believed that even kings shouldn't have ALL the power.
When disagreements between King Charles I and the people of England got really serious, Cromwell joined the army fighting for Parliament — that's like a big group of people who help make decisions for a country. Here's the wild part: he'd never been a soldier before! But Cromwell was such a natural leader that he trained his own cavalry called the "Ironsides." They were famous for being super disciplined and brave.
Cromwell became so important that after the big conflict ended, he was named "Lord Protector" of England — basically the leader of the whole country! He was the first person who wasn't a king or queen to rule England in hundreds of years.
💡 Oliver Cromwell's head was displayed on a pole for over 20 years after he died, but it was eventually buried secretly at a college in Cambridge!
