What if your mom was a WOLF and you grew up to build one of the greatest cities ever?
Rome's Birthday Bash: The Day a City Was Born!
Discover how twin brothers and a big adventure started one of history's greatest cities!
Rome was 'born' in 753 BCE according to legend — founded by a boy raised by wolves!
Imagine building a city from scratch — that's exactly what happened on April 21, 753 BCE, when ancient Romans believed their amazing city was founded! But wait, there's more to this story!
According to legend, twin brothers named Romulus and Remus were raised by a wolf (yes, a real wolf!) after being left alone as babies. Talk about an unusual family! When they grew up, they decided to build a city. But brothers sometimes disagree, right? They couldn't decide WHERE to build it!
Romulus chose one hill, Remus chose another. They watched for special birds in the sky — whoever saw more birds would win! Romulus spotted 12 vultures while Remus only saw 6. Victory!
Romulus drew a line around his chosen spot on the Palatine Hill and declared it would be the boundary of his new city. He named it after himself — Roma (Rome in Italian)!
💡 The Romans celebrated Rome's birthday for over 1,000 years, making it one of the longest-running birthday parties in history!
