What if someone built a castle out of glass and filled it with the coolest stuff from EVERY country on Earth?

The World's First Big Fair Opens in London!

When the whole planet came together under one giant glass roof

In 1851, the world's first mega-fair opened inside a palace made of glass!

Imagine a building so enormous it could fit ENTIRE trees inside it! On May 1, 1851, Queen Victoria of England opened the most amazing event the world had ever seen: The Great Exhibition!

This wasn't just any fair — it was the FIRST world's fair ever! People from over 40 countries brought their coolest inventions and treasures to show off. And where did all this awesome stuff go? Inside the Crystal Palace!

The Crystal Palace was like something from a fairy tale. It was made almost entirely of GLASS — over 300,000 panes of it! Workers built this incredible structure in just nine months. That's faster than some houses get built today!

Inside, visitors could see amazing things they'd never imagined. There were massive diamonds, early cameras, strange machines, and even a house made entirely of rubber! Can you imagine bouncing off your walls at home?

💡 The Crystal Palace used more glass than had ever been made in Britain before — and sparrows kept flying inside, so they brought in hawks to chase them out!
