The Awesome Roman Flower Festival!

When Ancient Romans Threw the World's Best Spring Party

Ancient Romans threw an epic flower party with butterflies, dancing, and colorful clothes!

Imagine living in ancient Rome and waking up on the first day of May to hear music, laughter, and see colorful flowers EVERYWHERE! Welcome to Floralia — Rome's most spectacular flower festival!

Every year starting on April 28th and lasting through May 3rd, the Romans threw an incredible party to honor Flora, the goddess of flowers and spring. And guess what? May 1st was right in the middle of all the fun!

During Floralia, people wore bright, colorful clothes instead of their usual white robes. They decorated everything with flowers — their homes, the streets, even their hair! Can you imagine your whole neighborhood covered in roses and lilies?

Here's the really cool part: the Romans released thousands of butterflies and birds into the air! They believed these creatures would carry their wishes for a good harvest to the goddess Flora. Picture hundreds of colorful butterflies flying all around you — how magical would that be?

💡 The Romans released thousands of real butterflies and birds during Floralia — it was like a living rainbow flying through the streets!
