What if your whole city threw a flower party that lasted almost a WEEK?
The Wild Festival of Floralia in Ancient Rome!
When Romans threw the biggest flower party ever!
Ancient Romans threw a 6-day flower party with colorful clothes and bunnies everywhere!
Imagine living in ancient Rome, about 2,000 years ago. Every year around late April and early May, something AMAZING happened — the whole city threw a giant flower party called Floralia!
This festival honored Flora, the goddess of flowers and spring. And let me tell you, the Romans knew how to celebrate! People decorated everything with colorful flowers. The streets looked like a rainbow had exploded everywhere!
Here's the really cool part — during Floralia, Romans wore the brightest, most colorful clothes they owned. Usually, Romans dressed in plain white togas (those famous sheet-like outfits). But not during this festival! Everyone went WILD with colors!
Kids and grown-ups played games, watched theater performances, and released rabbits and goats through the streets. Why? Because these animals were symbols of spring and new life! Can you imagine bunnies hopping everywhere while people danced and sang?
💡 During Floralia, it was one of the only times Romans could wear bright green, yellow, and pink instead of their usual boring white togas!
