What if YOU had to fly a tiny plane across the Atlantic Ocean — all by yourself, at night, through storms?

The Day Amelia Earhart Flew Solo Across the Atlantic!

One brave pilot, one tiny plane, and a HUGE ocean to cross all alone

Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932!

On May 20, 1932, a fearless pilot named Amelia Earhart climbed into her bright red airplane and did something absolutely incredible. She was about to fly ALONE across the entire Atlantic Ocean — something no woman had ever done before!

Amelia took off from Newfoundland, Canada, as the sun was setting. Her little plane, called a Lockheed Vega, was packed with fuel and not much else. No GPS, no fancy computers — just Amelia, her instruments, and the stars above!

But here's where it gets wild: Almost everything went wrong! Ice formed on her wings, making the plane super heavy. Her altimeter broke, so she couldn't tell how high she was flying. Then flames started shooting out of her engine! Would YOU keep going? Amelia did!

For nearly 15 hours, she battled storms, fog, and freezing temperatures. She flew through the dark night with nothing but ocean below her. Finally, she spotted land — Ireland! She was so low on fuel that she landed in a farmer's field instead of an airport. Can you imagine a cow looking up and seeing a plane land next to you?

💡 Amelia packed only tomato juice and a thermos of soup for her entire 15-hour flight across the ocean — that's like having lunch for dinner for a whole day!
