What if a kid not much older than a high schooler became the leader of a whole country?
The Day William Pitt Became Britain's Youngest PM!
How a 24-year-old became the leader of one of the world's most powerful countries
William Pitt became Britain's youngest Prime Minister ever at just 24 years old!
Imagine being so good at your job that you become the leader of an entire country before you're even 25 years old! That's exactly what happened to William Pitt the Younger on May 28, 1759 — the day he was born!
William grew up in a very political family. His dad was also a Prime Minister! But young William didn't just ride on his father's fame — he was a total genius. He started college at Cambridge University when he was just 14 years old. That's like going to college while you're still in middle school!
William was shy and often sick as a kid, but he had an amazing talent for speeches and understanding complicated money stuff (called economics). By the time he was 21, he was already a member of Parliament — that's like being elected to Congress!
Then came the really wild part. When William was only 24 years old, King George III asked him to become Prime Minister. Many people laughed and called him a "schoolboy." But guess what? William proved them ALL wrong!
💡 William Pitt was so young when he became Prime Minister that some members of Parliament actually burst out laughing when he first stood up to speak!
