What if one little book could help create an entire country?

The Day Thomas Paine Was Born to Spark a Revolution!

Meet the man whose words helped create America!

Thomas Paine wrote a booklet so powerful it helped convince Americans to fight for freedom!

On June 8, 1737, a baby named Thomas Paine was born in a tiny English town called Thetford. Nobody knew it yet, but this little boy would grow up to change the world with just his pen and paper!

Thomas wasn't born rich or famous. His dad made corsets (those tight, uncomfortable things people used to wear under their clothes), and Thomas had to leave school at age 12 to help out. But here's the cool part — Thomas LOVED to read and taught himself everything he could!

When Thomas was 37, he sailed across the ocean to America. There, he saw colonists who were unhappy being ruled by a faraway king. Thomas thought, "I can help!" So he wrote a little booklet called "Common Sense."

And WOW, did it work! His writing was so exciting and easy to understand that EVERYONE read it. In just a few months, 500,000 copies were sold — and that was when America only had about 2.5 million people! Imagine if one out of every five people you know read the same book!

💡 Thomas Paine donated all the money he made from "Common Sense" to buy mittens and warm clothes for American soldiers during the Revolutionary War!
