What if one man's wild plan accidentally invented the world's coolest fireworks holiday?

The Day Guy Fawkes Was Born!

Meet the man behind the famous face and fireworks

Guy Fawkes was born in 1570 and became famous for the wildest failed fireworks show ever!

Have you ever seen those mysterious masks with the pointy beard and the sneaky smile? Well, on August 5, 1570, the real person behind that famous face was born in York, England!

Guy Fawkes grew up in a time when people argued A LOT about religion. England had recently become Protestant, but Guy's family secretly followed the Catholic faith. This was actually pretty dangerous back then!

As Guy grew up, he became a soldier and traveled across Europe, fighting in different wars. He was known for being brave, clever, and really good with explosives. But here's where things get wild!

In 1605, Guy and a group of friends came up with a seriously bonkers plan. They were upset that Catholics couldn't practice their religion freely, so they decided to blow up Parliament — the place where the king and all the important leaders met!

💡 Every year before the British Parliament opens, guards still search the cellars — just in case someone's hiding down there like Guy Fawkes did over 400 years ago!
