What if you woke up and discovered you were a giant... or as tiny as your thumb?

The Day Jonathan Swift Was Born!

Meet the man who invented a world of tiny people and giants!

Jonathan Swift was born and later created Gulliver's amazing adventures with tiny and giant people!

On October 19, 1667, a baby was born in Dublin, Ireland who would grow up to create some of the wildest, wackiest stories ever written!

His name was Jonathan Swift, and he had a HUGE imagination. When he grew up, he wrote a book called 'Gulliver's Travels' that kids and adults have loved for almost 300 years!

In his most famous story, a sailor named Gulliver gets shipwrecked and wakes up on a beach — but something is very wrong. He's tied down by hundreds of tiny ropes! That's when he discovers he's been captured by the Lilliputians — people who are only six inches tall! Imagine meeting someone who could fit in your hand!

But wait, there's more! In another adventure, Gulliver visits a land of GIANTS called Brobdingnag, where HE becomes the tiny one. The giants kept him in a dollhouse and he had to fight off wasps the size of birds!

💡 The word 'Lilliputian' (meaning super tiny) was invented by Jonathan Swift and is still used today — that's word power lasting over 300 years!
