What if a kid from a tiny farm village grew up to explore more of the world than almost anyone in history?

The Day Captain Cook Was Born to Explore!

Meet the farm boy who grew up to map the world's oceans

Captain Cook was born on a farm but grew up to map more of Earth's oceans than anyone!

On October 27, 1728, in a tiny village in England, a baby was born who would grow up to become one of the greatest explorers EVER! His name was James Cook, and his family was so poor that his dad worked on farms just to buy food.

But young James had big dreams! He loved watching ships sail by and wondered what was out there beyond the horizon. When he was a teenager, he got a job in a shop near the sea. But selling groceries wasn't exciting enough for him — he wanted ADVENTURE!

So James joined a ship's crew and taught himself how to navigate using the stars. Can you imagine learning to find your way across the ocean by looking at the night sky? That's exactly what he did!

James Cook became so good at sailing and making maps that the British Navy noticed him. They gave him his own ship and sent him on THREE incredible voyages around the world!

💡 Captain Cook's ship, the Endeavour, was only about as long as a basketball court, but it carried 94 people around the world!
